PREPARING TODAY’S WORKFORCE FOR TOMORROW’S CHALLENGES
Quality Health Management, LLC (QHM) has been providing continuing education and training programs for the healthcare community since 1992. Our goal is, and has always been, to focus on providing opportunities to enhance current skill sets while leveraging growth opportunities that encourage success in the workplace.
Through the years of working closely with our community, we find that a common problem many individuals struggle with is a lack of life skills and personal development skills which are necessary to achieve success on the job. These include such basic things as dress and appearance, workplace etiquette, and attitude and professionalism issues. To meet these issues head-on, the staff of QHM has partnered with Lotus Life Design, LLC to develop the following workshop series. We believe this is a very strong foundation to improving the workplace skills of participants. Individuals currently employed may find the workshops promote opportunity to grow further personally and to stimulate them to move further along their chosen career path.
All courses offered under FOUNDATIONS OF SUCCESS will include goal development before and after the class in order to provide the participant with an opportunity to pinpoint their personal goals and track their career achievements.
Participants may choose as many of the courses as they feel will meet their needs. Workshop schedules are provided on an ongoing basis. Workshops may be customized for individuals’ work settings.

Goal Setting – This simple course will help participants realize their skills and potential as it pertains to their current place of work or in their intended long-term career. The program will then help them establish achievable goals, both short-term and long-term, to strive towards and use as a focus for improvement in their abilities.
Mindfulness I – Focuses on the importance of being aware and alert in the present moment. The program will work on skills needed in improving situational awareness, focusing, and managing stressful situations.
Mindfulness II – This course will focus more on skill building in the area of the self, such as patience, stress management, calming your body and mind, and how to deal with anxiety.
Customer Service – Focuses on building the required skills for dealing with customers, patients, or coworkers in the workplace. The participant will be provided with the appropriate ways of dealing with difficult situations, and given relevant problem solving and conflict resolution skills. The course will emphasis the importance of making the customer/patient feel welcome and as if they are the most important person to the business.
Conflict Resolution – This course will deal specifically with the skills needed to deal with difficult situations involving patients/customers, coworkers, or supervisors. Participants will learn how to handle these situations calmly and fairly, in order to work towards a resolution that satisfies all involved parties.
Get a Grip! Lifeskills – This course will teach participants effective ways to balance the stress of work with stress from outside of work. It is important to learn how to handle each of these separately in their own way, so that neither affects each other negatively. This class will emphasize keeping these realms of stress separate so that life issues do not spill over into the work environment.
Personal Accountability in the Workplace – This workshop will focus on the importance and necessity of accountability that an employee has while on the job such as ethics, values, motivation, completion of projects, and personal improvement. This course will emphasize taking responsibility for one’s self and one’s actions.
Workplace Violence and Bullying – Bullying is not only a major issue in schools, it is also one in the workplace. This course will cover the ways to prevent personal issues from becoming problems in the workplace, what to do in the event of an altercation while on the job, and how to look for cues in order to deflate a potential situation quickly.
Becoming Part of a Team – This workshop is a must for participants looking to be a successful component of a workplace. Team building and cooperation skills will be the focus, with skills provided to help deal with issues that come into play in these situations. Participants will learn how best to avoid the traps of dysfunctional teamwork.
Telephone Techniques – Participants will be provided with roleplaying situations of the appropriate and professional way to answer the telephone and manage phone calls. Skills that will be focused on will help employees be polite and thorough on the phone while possibly having to manage many calls at once, and prevent any dissatisfaction or frustration for the caller.
Dress for Success – This course will focus on the importance of an employee’s dress and appearance in the workplace, its’ reflection on the individual and the office, and its role in professionalism and the judgment of clients. The workshop will also cover personal hygiene, appropriate wearing of jewelry, and the use of make-up. It will provide the skills needed to make good decisions regarding the best appearance for certain contexts, and good judgment about how clothes fit and what message they convey to patients or customers.
Is Your Cup ½ Empty or ½ Full? – Participants will evaluate their current situation in life and assess whether or not they are effectively prepared for their chosen career path. Those participants who are currently employed will focus on whether they are prepared both emotionally and mentally for their position. Strategies to cope with these situations and improve upon them will be taught.
Managing Your Staff and Daily Stressors – This course is aimed primarily at supervisors and managers in order to teach helpful strategies for handling difficult situations involving employees. Stressors, common workplace problems, and signs to look for are some important aspects that will be covered.
