Course Objectives: The course will prepare the dental assistant intending to challenge the DANB Radiation Health & Safety Exam administered by the New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care.
OSHA—INFECTION CONTROL UPDATE
Course Objectives: Upon completion, the participants will be able to discuss the transmission of infectious diseases, including Hepatitis C & HIV. Participants will identify critical requirements to assist them in meeting OSHA compliance and gain an understanding of the Bloodborne Pathogen Federal Standard.
Course Objectives: Upon completion, the participants will discuss updated techniques to minimize radiation exposure to the operator and the patient. Explain the characteristics and production of ionizing radiation and biological, cellular and molecular effects, patient and operatory safety.
Course Objectives: The participants will be prepared to properly place and expose an FMX on a mannequin, recognize errors in exposure and processing of radiographs. The participants will also process, mount, and evaluate radiographs.
Course Objectives: Participants gain knowledge by reviewing the national standards to protect an individual’s personal health information, including steps to be HIPAA compliant and gain knowledge in submitting paper claims and electronic transactions.
TOPICAL FLUORIDE & CORONAL POLISHING EXAM PREP
Course Objectives: Upon completion, the participants will gain information to challenge the Topical Fluoride & Coronal Polishing Exams administered by the Dental Assisting National Board. The participants will gain knowledge in the use and application of fluoride. Participants will discuss the effects of abrasive agents used in coronal polishing, types of strains, rate of abrasion, and polishing armamentarium.
CPR Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider—RECERTIFICATION
Course Objectives: This course is designed by the American Heart Association in providing certification for the health care providers in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, review of the AED (Automatic External Defibrillation) and demonstrate CPR safety rescue for infants, children, and adults. Course provides two-year certification.
AHA HEART SAVER
2-hour, 2 Year certification
Course Objectives: For Daycare Providers, Security Guards, Educators, and Body Artists. Upon completion of the course the student will be able to demonstrate performing CPR to an adult, child, or infant. Instructional components include: Adult, Child, Infant CPR, use of mask for the adult, child, and infant; adult and infant choking. Students will receive two-year certification with the American Heart Association.
PIT & FISSURE EXAM PREP
Course Objectives: Upon completion, the participants will discuss the most recent approach to tooth conditioning application and quality assurance with pit and fissure sealants, including the effects and application. Participants will demonstrate application of sealants from the beginning to end of the procedure.
Medical Emergency Training for the Dental Office/Clinic
Participants will gain knowledge in the administration, risks, & patient care issues which also include managing medical emergencies & preventive measures. Participants will discuss the handling of the oxygen & nitrous cylinders, proper change out & how to examine leaks within the piping systems and will understand requirements for dental offices.
